Clay Groups
If you are an artist and would like to bring Clay Groups, meaning a group of students to Tuscany for a period of discovery and practical experience in the studio, La Meridiana will be most pleased to help you realise such a project.
For Whom?
Clay groups are an interesting option for different organizations at all levels. For exampl these groups can take the form of an art retreat for a group of artist friends. Studio teachers and instructors can organize a period of uninterrupted study and practice with clay for their students in an inspiring environment. Universities will find a reliable partner, as will university professors looking to provide their students with an international experience.
The studio space
The Nature Studio is located in the gardens of La Meridiana. Morning sun and the golden light of sunset illuminate the studio where a sense of quietness unfolds as you work accompanied by the sound of songbirds, amongst the shade of majestic oak trees. Open on three sides, the studio is located at the base of La Meridiana hill beside the wood kiln, a flight of stairs from the main studios.
The organisation
While the artist/organiser/university is responsible for generating interest through their own channels, La Meridiana will organise and provide accommodation, meals, working facilities and the logistics of the programme.
The programme will be tailor-made according to the specific ceramic theme and travel interests and is an ideal space for groups of 6 – 12 people.
Field trips
Clay groups can take advantage of La Meridiana’s central location. Art towns such as Florence, Siena, Volterra, and San Gimignano are within one hour’s driving distance.
Groups may visit potters with studios nearby, such as Terry Davies and Franco Balducci. Impruneta is a destination for those interested in historical ceramics.
