The On Centre Course has come to its conclusion after three months of intensive study, experimentation, and shared studio experience at La Meridiana. Participants immersed themselves in throwing and glazing, exploring clays, slips, glazes and firing techniques while developing their personal voice in clay.

Led by instructors Pietro Elia Maddalena, Zsófia Földvári and Eve Carrobourg, with the support of technician Giulia Bagni and assistant Lorenzo Cecchinato, the course brought together participants from diverse backgrounds, each arriving with different expectations, experiences, and ambitions. What united the group was a commitment to developing skills through long hours of hands-on practice.

The On Centre programme is built around a simple idea: technical knowledge provides a foundation for personal exploration. Through demonstrations, individual guidance, and continuous practice, students were encouraged not only to acquire skills but to develop their own working methods and ceramic language, resulting in a wide range of approaches and outcomes. Over these three months, their skills and confidence grew as ideas evolved through cycles of making, feedback, and repetition.

We celebrated the conclusion of On Centre 2026 with an exhibition by students and instructors at the Palazzo Pretorio in Certaldo Alto. The works presented online show a small selection of pieces representing a journey of learning and discovery in clay.
