29A-2022 – Handmade Porcelain Flowers – Noemi Iglesias
July 10 – 16 2022
Infinite flower bouquets in your finger tips.
For all

Introduction
The production of handmade porcelain flowers is an industrial decorative technique performed entirely by women throughout the 19th and 20th centuries in European ceramic factories. Due to the difficulty and time it takes to make each one of the handmade flowers, the technique has practically disappeared but during this course, we will recover the tradition.
Techniques taught
We will learn how to make different types of handmade porcelain flowers and floral elements such as leaves, pistils, or individual petals. The purpose of this course is to acquire the necessary knowledge to reproduce this technique so the participants can apply it individually in their personal studios. You will be able to make delicat bouquets or use the flowers as sigle decorative elements. Furthermore, through the inspirational attitude of the instructor, participants wil discover inedited ways to apply the techique and it’s simbolic value in their own work.
Teaching Method
At the beginning of each session, demos will be shown, delivering a thorough and explanation of each step. Then, there will be an individual follow-up, adapting the technique to the specific needs and knowledge of each participant, repeating the steps as many times as necessary. The course is divided into 5 sessions. You may ask for the complete programme writing to La Meridiana.
Logistics
Students will study in the beautiful environment of La Meridiana, hosted in nearby accommodation and a full meal will be served on all course days. The last kiln opening will be in the morning of Saturday, plan your travels so to not leave La Meridiana before 9.30 am.
