At La Meridiana, a symposium is a time to get together around a shared passion for clay. It may take the shape of an art retreat for a group of artist friends, instructors offering a period of uninterrupted study and practice to their learners or university professors looking for an international experience for their students.
These and many other concepts may successfully be accommodated at La Meridiana’s Nature Studio. Groups may rent the fully equipped studio space in the gardens of La Meridiana for a period of one week to two months.
The space is equipped with tables, shelves, a kick wheel and electric wheels. Set beside the Noborigama wood firing kiln, the Nature Studio lends itself beautifully to wood and pit firing projects.
A variety of services or self catering options are available.
A range of low and high fire clays and glazes are available. Prior to arrival, specific requirements for the group will be discussed and catered to.
Groups will be hosted in independent housing, just a 10 minute walk from La Meridiana. Groups may also elect to rent housing of their choice independently.
A delicious, freshly prepared lunch with wine and dessert may be booked Monday through Friday. Local grocery shopping for breakfast and evening meals can be organised in the neighbouring town of Certaldo. While there is one restaurant at walking distance, there are many restaurants and pizzerias where you can explore the tastes of Tuscany a short drive away.
Applications are on-going. Interested groups or group leaders should send an inquiry including a short description of the kind of work they envisage.
