On Centre – A twelve week residential course based on throwing, clay bodies, glazes and firing
This course is aimed at committed people who wish to develop in-depth skills for a professional approach to clay.
It is intended to gap a more and more noticeable lack in the institutional offer for qualified development in the field of functional ceramics.
The programme will cover fundamental and advanced throwing and trimming skills, material and firing technology and visual awareness. Students will stay and study in the supportive environment of La Meridiana for twelve weeks and receive daily tuition form a foremost ceramicists of broad experience.
Tony Clennell, MFA, RCA, is a second generation potter that has been making pottery for over 35 years. He is an experienced instructor who has hold workshops in Canada, USA, Japan, China, Korea, Wales and Italy and a professor at Sheridan College (Toronto). He holds a Master of Fine Arts from Utah State University and is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. Franco Rampi (It) is the assistant instructor. He started working as a potter in 1981. After an apprenticeship in England and a cycle of studies in Italy he opened his own studio in Tuscany.
He works mainly in stoneware, whilst continuing his research on clays, slips and forms.
