Application for the Pietro Elia Maddalena Scholarship in 2026

 

Awarded to the course On Centre 2027 with Franco Rampi and Zsófia Földvári

 

The Pietro Elia Maddalena Scholarship in 2026 will be awarded to a young European potter or student aged 18–35, who can demonstrate merit and promise, to participate in the intensive course On Centre 2027 taught by Franco Rampi and Zsófia Földvári.

Where:               La Meridiana International School of Ceramics in Tuscany

When:                3 January – 26 March 2027

What:                  The grant covers half of the workshop fee and accommodation in a single room with shared bathroom on-site at the school. The scholarship holder must contribute with a fee of 4800 € and facilitate the course by assisting in a number of technical tasks to ensure an organized and enjoyable studio environment for everyone involved. How:                    To participate in the selection process, interested candidates must send the following documentation:

  • Motivation letter (Maximum one page, Word or PDF format).
  • A short resume (Maximum one page, Word or PDF format)
  • Four images of your work (JPEG format, maximum 800 KB)
  • Filled application form (Link to the file)
  • A short video of approximately 2 minutes in English in which you introduce yourself, summarize your interests, your motivation and future projects after the course.
  • Reference letter (not mandatory)

 

Applications must be sent to info@lameridiana.fi.it between 21 April and 12 May 2026, and all applicants will receive a response by 28 May 2026.

Successful candidate will participate in our three-month long signature intensive program on throwing, glazing, clay bodies and firing techniques for functional ceramics in the stimulating environment of La Meridiana International School of Ceramics in Tuscany. In addition, they will have a chance to look behind the scenes, interact with the staff and gain experience in managing a ceramic workshop. The experience will provide an opportunity for personal and creative growth and exchange of ideas. At the end of the course, the scholarship recipient will be invited to share their experience with others through showcasing their creative work, and as ambassadors for the programme.
