Sculpture. Non beginners

In this short and intense one week workshop we will study various aspects of the creative process in the making of abstract sculpture in ceramics. The practical demonstrations will cover a range of technical and aesthetic considerations, followed by the focus on a personal level, in order to help the participant to develop their own path and their own vision of the project undertaken. The figures will be built using high temperature colored clays, and by exploiting their characteristics we will work to obtain rich, interesting surfaces. Surfaces that can be further enhanced by the use of vitreous colored slips. The course is taught in Italian with English translation.

Cost: € 860
The workshop fee includes:

  • tuition (class is 6/7 hours per day with 12 hours studio time)
  • materials and firings
  • lodging in double room; single room on request at extra cost of € 125
  • welcome dinner
  • welcome breakfast
  • a freshly prepared Tuscan lunch with wine on the working days

La MeridianaOrietta Mengucci is born in Rome. She holds a diploma in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome. Subsequently she broadens her knowledge on ceramic techniques through participation in workshops and seminars. In 1990 she opens her studio in Rome, where she is also teaching. Her works are shown nationally and are found in private and public collections. The primary aspect of her work is the research and chromatic study of materials, not addressed to the mere imitation of Nature but rather to the nurturing process that she generates. These information and sensations lead to three dimensional works, monolithic sculptural forms obtained from vitrified clays.
