Handbuilding, throwing and decoration. For all

There could be no better place than La Meridiana to stir your pottery potential while celebrating beauty, meaning, and metaphor. Come and learn to paint red earthenware pottery using maiolica glazing techniques. Join in the lineage, while working in this historic "hotbed" of Italian maiolica. Take inspiration from the regional pottery that has inspired generations of clay enthusiasts. Traditional and contemporary glaze painting methods including pattern painting and brushwork will be taught. Students will learn ways to marry form, decoration, and content. Come to this workshop ready to be inspired and please bring a pair of hands that can't wait to get busy. Decorating tools, glazed work and great memories will join you on your return home. Handbuilders and wheel throwers with basic clay experience are welcome.

Cost: 1960
The workshop fee includes:

  • tuition (class is 6/8 hours per day with 12 hours studio time)
  • materials and firings
  • lodging in double room; single room on request at extra cost of € 250
  • shared cooking facilities
