35 Process in Progress
Elaborating new ideas with a series of hand building techniques.
Sunshine Cobb www.sunshinecobb.com
August 21st – September 3rd 2016

Handbuilding. For all

Process-over-product and a progress-over-perfection mentality is underlying this two-week hands-on workshop. Students will learn and use hand-building techniques such as coil building, pinching, cut-and-construct processes, altering, and hard and soft slab construction to generate pots and pottery components. Daily exercises will support the new ideas to bring into your work. Sunshine’s enthusiasm and vitality are contagious. There will be instructor demonstrations, class discussion of ideas, informal presentations of students ‘visual resource material, in-process critiques. We will use a mid-range clay body, and all work will be glaze fired by the end of the workshop.
As a group we will take several outings and field trips: a chance to get to know more of Tuscany but also to spend diverse time with the instructor and the group. Making, inspiration and exchange will equally be part of this unique experience.
